BESS courses & training by Sergey Syrvachev

Practical BESS engineering,
taught the way it actually gets built.

Structured, project-grounded grid-scale battery energy storage (BESS) training — cells, PCS, EMS, BMS, safety, and grid revenue. Built by an engineer who ships real projects, not a textbook author.

Practical, project-grounded BESS training—from cells and controls to safety and revenue—built by an engineer delivering real projects.

What BESS professionals wrote about the course

Public LinkedIn feedback from engineers, project managers, consultants, and energy professionals who completed Grid-Scale Battery Energy Storage (BESS): Complete Guide. Each card links to the reviewer’s original LinkedIn post.

Every quote is the reviewer’s own words, from the public post each card links to. Where we cut, the gap shows as […]. Longer quotes are trimmed to fit the card; Show more opens the rest. We never infer a rating from a post, and we have not checked whether any of these reviewers had discounted access.

Before you choose

The questions everyone asks.

How much do the specialist courses overlap with the Complete Guide?

Each one expands a single layer the Complete Guide covers in overview — the electrical foundations, the revenue stack, fire safety, or warranties and operations. The Guide gives you the whole system; a specialist course goes several times deeper on its layer.

Do I need the Complete Guide first?

Recommended, not required. The specialists assume you know the system picture the Guide teaches; if you already work in BESS, you can go straight to the layer your work needs. Each course page states its prerequisites.

When will each specialist course launch?

Each course still in production states its completion window up front on its course page, sells at its early-bird price while production finishes, and carries a full refund at any time until release. How a Battery Gets Paid is already released — its early-bird price is honoured until the deadline on its price panel.

Where will I purchase and watch them?

The Complete Guide runs on Udemy today. Every specialist course sells right here on bess.courses and streams in your classroom at learn.bess.courses — each course page states both.

Will there be launch pricing, bundles or certificates?

Yes — every specialist course opens with early-bird pricing: about half the launch price while it is still in production (the exact discount sits on each price panel), the completion window stated up front, and — for courses still in production — a full refund available at any time until release. The Complete Guide already carries a certificate of completion — it enrols on Udemy, where Udemy's 30-day money-back guarantee applies; certificates for the specialists are decided per course, and each course page states its current certificate status. All five courses are also sold together as the Professional bundle — five enrolments in one purchase, with its own early-bird price and refund window.

The training

What the BESS training is — and who it serves.

What it is

Structured grid-scale BESS training: 232 recorded video lessons across 21 sections — 16h 59m of released material — moving from cell chemistry through enclosures, PCS, controls and fire safety to how a battery earns revenue. Projects first, textbook second.

Who it is for

Engineers moving into storage, project managers and developers who need the full picture, and procurement and finance people who have to challenge a vendor claim. No prior battery background is assumed — the learning path starts from zero and the glossary covers every term that matters.

How it is delivered

Self-paced, online, with a certificate on completion — through Udemy or right here on bess.courses. Teams train on the same material through the corporate programme, and the reference layer — grid codes, markets, tools — stays free for everyone, enrolled or not.

Sergey Syrvachev

An engineer who teaches what he ships.

I build BESS.courses from the chair of a working product engineer in the battery energy storage industry — not from a lecture hall.

The focus is grid-scale BESS: cell chemistry, enclosures, power conversion, controls, fire safety, project finance, and how a battery actually makes money. Every lesson is grounded in projects I have helped deliver. New to the topic? Start with the learning path or the BESS glossary.

If a course helps you make one better project decision, it has done its job.

The reference layer the training is built on.

Every course here is taught from the same open reference — definitions, grid-code envelopes, market rules. It is all readable before you enrol in anything, and every number says where it came from. The reference gives you the facts; the courses teach the reasoning that connects them — how the pieces become a working, bankable system.
