Privacy Policy
BESS.courses is a small, independent training site operated by Evolve Energy Consulting Inc. — the same company behind the classroom at training.bess.courses. We collect as little as possible, we never sell your data, and this page explains exactly what happens to anything you give us.
What we collect
- Your email address — only when you choose to submit a “Notify me” form to be told when a coming-soon course launches. Alongside it we store which course you asked about, the page you submitted from, and the country your connection reports, so we can send you the right notification and know which regions a course is wanted in.
- Corporate-training inquiries — only when you choose to submit the inquiry form on the corporate page: your name, work email, an optional company name, your message, and the page you submitted from, so we can reply with a relevant proposal.
- Aggregate, anonymous usage data — we use Plausible, a cookieless, privacy-friendly analytics tool that reports only aggregate figures (page views, referring sites, and anonymous conversion counts such as “waitlist signups”). It does not identify you or build a profile.
- Our own page-view counts — we also count page views ourselves, without cookies. For each view we store the page, the course it belongs to, the country your connection reports, the host of the site that linked you (never the full address you came from), and any campaign tags in the link. We never store your IP address or your browser's user-agent string: they are used once, on our server, to compute a one-way daily fingerprint that lets us count the same visitor twice in one day without knowing who they are. That fingerprint is keyed with a secret and changes every day, so it cannot be linked to you, to another day, or to anything else we hold. Pages that carry account or purchase details are excluded from counting entirely.
- Course orders. When you buy a course here, payment happens on Stripe’s hosted checkout under Stripe’s own privacy policy — we never see your full card details. We keep the order record: the course, the amount, your email address, and the country used to determine tax. Beyond that and the two forms above we do not collect phone numbers or special category data.
Why we collect it
The single purpose of the waitlist email is to notify you when the course you registered interest in becomes available, and the single purpose of a corporate inquiry is to answer it. That’s it — no newsletters you didn’t ask for, no drip campaigns. Order records exist to deliver what you bought: fulfilment and course access, the receipt, tax accounting, and honouring refunds.
Where it’s stored
Waitlist emails, corporate inquiries and order records are stored in a Supabase (PostgreSQL) database with row-level security that allows the website to add an entry but not to read anything back — only the site owner can access it. The site is served over HTTPS on Cloudflare.
Legal basis & consent
We process your email on the basis of your consent, given when you submit the form. You can withdraw that consent at any time (see “Your rights” below), and doing so does not affect anything you’ve already received.
How long we keep it
We keep a waitlist email until the relevant course has launched and you’ve been notified, plus a short follow-up window — or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first. Order records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires; the deletion rights below apply to everything not under such an obligation.
Cookies & tracking
This site — bess.courses — does not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Any analytics we use here is chosen specifically because it is cookieless and privacy-respecting, which is why you won’t see a cookie-consent banner on these pages. The classroom at training.bess.courses is ours too, and it does set cookies — the ones that keep you signed in and remember your place in a course. It sets no advertising cookies, and this policy covers it.
Third parties
We rely on a small number of infrastructure providers who process data on our behalf: Cloudflare (hosting and delivery), Supabase (waitlist and order storage), Stripe (payment processing, under their own terms), Resend (transactional email, such as your access link), Cloudways (hosting for the training.bess.courses classroom), and Bunny (course video delivery). The classroom is run by us rather than a third-party learning platform, so your course records stay with us. The Complete Guide is sold on Udemy, under Udemy’s own terms — purchases made here are processed by Stripe and delivered in your training.bess.courses classroom. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with anyone for marketing.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. Email sergey@bess.engineer and we’ll action it promptly. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR, or similar laws; this policy is written to respect them.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or how we use it, we’ll update this page and the “last updated” date above.
